Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder and 5 weapons counts in connection with the death of 27 year old Odin Lloyd. The Charges were made known today in an arraignemt at Attleboro District Court. Lloyd a semi-pro football player with the Boston Bandits, and an associate of Hernandez was found deceased in a wooded area of an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Hernandez will be held in police custody, without bail at this time.
UPDATE: Sports Events Guide has confirmed that Aaron Hernandez has been released by the New England Patriots following his arrest.
Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been arrested at his home in North Attelboro, Massachusetts.
Police were seen entering the home and bringing out Hernandez in handcuffs.
It is unclear what he has been charged with at this time, but it was reported last week that Hernandez would be charged with, at minimum, obstruction of justice related to the homicide investigation for Odin Lloyd, a friend of Hernandez who was found in the woods, just under a mile from Hernandez’s home.
Lloyd was reportedly dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee, and the two were seen together on the night of Lloyd’s death.
The police have repeatedly searched the Hernandez home and the grounds surrounding it. The possible obstruction charge is said to stem from Hernandez’s destruction of his home’s surveillance system and his cell phone.
The Arrest comes less than 15 hours after Hernandez’s lawyer Michael Fee released a statement complaining about media reports of an arrest warrant.
“Over the past week, our client, Aaron Hernandez, has been the subject of a relentless flood of rumors, misinformation, and false reports in the media. These include the repeated publication of a supposedly confirmed report that an arrest warrant had been issued for Aaron, a report that was exposed as untrue.”
“None of these false reports come from official sources and we appreciate the professionalism and restraint shown by the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office to date with regard to its public statements while its investigation is underway. Out of respect for that ongoing investigation, we will continue to refrain from commenting on its substance.”
Also yesterday a Massachusetts Judge has issued an order sealing all records in this case, This means that it will be impossible to officially confirm any details of the allegations made against Hernandez in obtaining the previous search warrants.
