Welcome to “Fuel It Up”! The racing world is chock full of intriguing stories, but sifting through them to get a good general sense of the landscape can be challenging. In Fuel It Up, I take the biggest, more interesting storylines and present them to you in a quick, compact 300-words-or-less format.
This Kyle Busch – Ryan Newman spat is getting pretty interesting. After last week’s New Hampshire race, Busch called Newman an “orge” and a “stupid idiot”. Newman responded by saying that Busch “wasn’t too bright”. Newman went further after the race saying he could “rearrange Busch’s face”. Kyle was upset that his brother was taken out of race contention in an accident that involved Newman. Sounds like Newman may be the bully of NASCAR…………… Speaking of Newman, Stewart Haas Racing has announced that Newman will not be back in the 39 car next season. Kevin Harvick will now join Tony Stewart and Danica Patrick in that 3 car team. Budweiser is following Harvick to Stewart Haas Racing. No word on where Newman may ride next season…………… As I reported earlier this summer, James Finch has finalized the sale of his team. The new owner is expected to take over the complete operation in September. Finch would not confirm that the new owner is Harry Scott of Scott Turner Motorsports…………… Danica Patrick on the Tonight Show Tuesday night joked that she slept on the couch after wrecking her boyfriend, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. during Sunday’s race. To her credit she took responsibility for causing the accident saying she braked too late in the corner and spun herself loose…………… NASCAR announced this week that it plans on putting their rulebook on their internet site. For years the rulebook was off limits to fans. For an organization that prides itself on being fan friendly, this sure did take a long time…………… The Sprint Cup and Truck Series are both off this week. The Nationwide Series is in action at the STP 300 in Joliet, Illinois…………… While many drivers are taking the week off for relaxing activities such as golf, Josh Wise of Front Row Motorsports is participating in the half-ironman triathlon in Racine, Wisconsin. The event includes a 1.2 mile swim in Lake Michigan, a 56-mile bicycle ride and a 13.1-mile run. Me? I think I’ll go fishing.
