Your New Orleans Saints Weekly Spew
Regardless of great second half adjustments; regardless that they took the lead late in the 4th; regardless that they uncharacteristically counted on their D late in the game, and they delivered late in the 4th quarter…
THE SAINTS CRAPPED THE BED,
THE ANNOUNCERS WERE BRAINDEAD
THE REFS WET THE BED,
BUT THE SAINTS “DESERVED TO LOSE!”
+++++++++++++++
Let me get this off my sparsely haired chest right now:
1. ATTENTION ANNOUNCERS:
THOM BRENNAMAN & TROY AIKMEN: “What aren’t you seeing that I am?” Regarding the Jimmy Graham “Hold” and subsequent Brees interception: “Hey boys, the reason the ball was intercepted was because Jimmy Graham was horse-collared in the middle of the crossing route, and ergo couldn’t jump when Brees lofted the ball to him. That’s why he was limping – you no-minds!”
2. ATTENTION NFL OFFICIALS (FAT HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS)
a. “Hard count by Brees” D jumped, O-Line stood up acknowledged it once they crossed well past the neutral zone, ergo that’s a neutral zone infraction. You dips! My youngest daughter, who knows “jack” about football, knows that.
And she said: “Dad, how can we see that and they can’t?” I replied: “Now you know why Daddy goes to therapy!”
Video replay was invented because your 60-year-old fine motor skills and vital signs are deteriorating.
b. “Timeout called before Brees Interception” – your declining reaction skills missed that. Brees called it, and the clock was at zero when the ball was snapped, and therefore, no pick by the Pats.
3. ATTENTION NFL OFFICIALS (FAT HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS) AGAIN
Regardless of last second heroics, and last minute Saints D brain farts, on the last play- THIS IS A CHOKE H-O-L-D!!!!!!!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Normal Smart Guy Payton vs. Normal “D” Guru Belichick
Winner? Obviously Belichick
Why?
-
Shutdown ¾ of Saints weapons; 1 catch for Colston + “0” for Graham
-
Seriously undermanned, Belichick managed to shut down Brees for the better part of 3 quarters
-
He adjusted pass protection after half and neutralized a usually consistent Saints pass rush
-
Payton was so much out of character, playing conservative with the offense for the last 3 minutes
-
Payton underused Pierre Thomas, was the most consistent weapon the Saints had in the 4th
2. Brady vs. Brees
Winner? Obviously Brady
-
Brees targeted Graham too many times, and that turned their offensive machine into a “put-put” i.e. missed a wide open Sproles several times for big gains trying to force-feed Graham in double and triple coverage
-
Brady uncharacteristically overthrew a wide-open Amendola for a TD, and his pre-school receiving core dropped many key passes, some for critical 1st downs (see 4th and 6 Dobson drop)
-
Brady took advantage of a “usually open between the hash marks two minute drill w/o timeouts due to a centerfield defense” that was given to him
-
Brees had almost ¾ of second more time to throw than Brady did and didn’t take advantage of the pass protection
-
Brees overthrew a TD pass, un-Brees-like
-
Brees was 3-0 vs. Brady up to Sunday
3. The upstart Saints D vs. Themselves
-
Ryan lost his mind in the last 3 series playing bubble bubble and non-aggressive D.
-
Ergo, Tom Terrific was handed…on a silver platter…..with the chocolate sauce….and a cherry on top, the OPPORTUNITY to be a hero, AND he delivered
WEEK 7 = SAINTS ARE ON A BYE
And thank God for that. I need a break.
