The Chicago Blackhawks picked up a big 4-0 win over the St. Louis Blues tonight. However the win came at quite the cost as superstar right winger Patrick Kane suffered a leg injury and was forced to leave the game mid-way through the second period. Kane did not return and after the game, coach Joel Quenneville had an update as to his star’s condition.
#Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane will miss “about three weeks,” Quenneville said.

The injury is a big blow for the defending Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks who are fighting for playoff positioning and home-ice advantage in the NHL playoffs. The three team race between the Hawks, Blues, and Colorado Avalanche in the central division continues to be extremely close.
Kane suffered the injury when Blues forward Brenden Morrow fell on his leg. Morrow had been hit along the boards by Hawks’ defenceman Sheldon Brookbank 7:30 into the second period. After being on the ice for several minutes, Kane was able to leave the ice under his own power, but was heavily limping.
Kane leads the Blackhawks with 69 points. He has 29 goals and 40 assists in 69 games. He had an assist in the first period against the Blues. Patrick Sharp is tied with Kane in goals, and has just one less assist.
In better news the win was the 700th in coach Joel Quenneville’s NHL career, and moved the Hawks into sole possession of second place in the division.
