The current dilemma at Spurs is an unusual one, but there are plenty of ways you can consider regarding how it can be resolved.
One option I believe is that a change in management or perhaps a change in management style is needed. Firstly, I respect the job that Tim Sherwood has done, given the hot seat made vacant by Andre Villas-Boas. He inherited an unmotivated team with little passion, no drive and no leadership from the manager himself, nor player(s) or the chairman, Daniel Levy. The team lacked direction, and the departure of AVB saw the surprising appointment of Tim Sherwood at White Hart Lane.
However, Sherwood now finds himself in a similar position. The team and club are a total mess. The chairman, manager and also the technical director; Franco Baldini are coming under question as their judgement and
Social media sites such as Facebook and twitter always have everyone’s opinions available after matches, whether they are worthwhile or not. After the 4-0 devastation at Anfield on Sunday came to an end, the paying customers traveling had seen enough, and the fans at home had given up. This resulted in a complete mockery of the club and the results the team has suffered. Tottenham look weak, and it is all justified, as Spurs fans are very demanding but when it comes to seeing a team unwilling to make the effort for those that care for the club. Enough is enough.
Many fans believe that Sherwood’s passion and desire for the team is not enough. While you have to respect the fact that he is willing to put everything on the line to see the club succeed, sadly, when it comes right down to it, showing passion is not enough. This results in the fans wanting change frequently. But is change really what Spurs need? or should they stick with what they have and ride through the storm that comes along with Tottenham Hotspur and have faith in Tim Sherwood’s plans?
Many have brought up the name of Louis Van Gaal as being called to the stage to direct Spurs back to the glory days with his vast amounts of experience and success in past. The statistics do not lie and the high demand on Van Gaal is justified with him having 780 games managed to date, winning 479, drawing 151 and loosing just 150, considering the amount of games he has managed, he has had a very successful carer wherever he has been, whether that is in the Eredivisie with Ajax, with a win percentage of 68.35% across 278 games, in the La liga BBVA with two spells at Barcelona totaling a win percentage of 56.02% or currently leading a strong, quick and powerful Netherlands squad in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, with a respective 19 games played, 11 wins, six draws and just two losses so far. Wherever Van Gaal has coached, he has had success, bringing a very respectable and professional current win percentage as manager to 61.41%.
The demand from Spurs is calling out for someone that can take charge of an incredible squad, not only is there a huge blend of youth an experience coming from the likes of Michael Dawson and Hugo Lloris, but to the newly found young talents in Nabil Bentaleb and Kyle Walker, all strong assets and additions to a strength in depth spurs side that has quite frankly under performed and disappointed not only Spurs fans, but other Premier League fans this season.
Spurs are looking for someone that can direct the team and knock some pride and passion to want to win for that crest on the front of that shirt, bring back the glory days to White Hart Lane and see the team have that dominant fast paced, attacking football we all once saw, and other teams feared when facing the likes of Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Jermain Defoe and many others along the years that have added that brand identity to spurs, which made them such a threat. In my opinion i believe Van Gaal can get that motivation back in the camp and make the payers that go in for the fans each week who have the talent, and will develop into some world class players, with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela, three prime examples of players that have shown in the past and currently shown that they can be a real addition to this side and cement their place for the future.
Fans can only back the team and have faith in who ever is in charge, because at the end of the day, they do it the Tottenham way, and that has always been the hard way. COYS!
