Virginia Tech relied on the passing of Michael Brewer (23 for 36, 199 Yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) and a relentless pass rush to upset Ohio State 35-21 before an Ohio Stadium record crowd. The Texas Tech transfer didn’t overpower Ohio State with his arm strength or dazzle the Buckeyes with his playmaking ability. Brewer showed the poise of a veteran and delivered the ball in key moments as Virginia Tech converted 9 of 16 3rd downs. Meanwhile, Redshirt Freshman JT Barrett delivered on the deep throws, but couldn’t sustain drives in completing just 9 of 29 passes in his second start. Barrett may be no Braxton Miller at this point, but hung in under heavy pressure and provided what little ground game the Buckeyes’ could muster as the Buckeyes’ aim to replace Carlos Hyde with a committee of backs. MarkRogersTV discusses what this result may mean for the Hokies and how Ohio State must dig itself and the Big Ten out of the ashes after the conference went 0-3 in Prime Time
