Athleticism: D-
Very stiff athlete. Struggles to drop his weight and make cuts at full speed. Tight in the hips and doesn’t move well outside of a straight line. Runs faster than he looks and is capable of getting downfield in college, but likely won’t be able to cut it in the NFL.
Catching: B-
Is a bit hard-handed and does not pluck the ball outside of his frame. Much better at trapping the ball against his pads. Shows good focus to make tough catches in traffic. Drops appear to be the result of his hands rather than concentration. Capable of adjusting to the low thrown pass, trapping the ball between his pads and hands.
Routes: D
Showed the ability to run a variety of routes, but none very well. Chops his feet in and out of his routes and struggles to change directions with any quickness or burst. Has trouble separating from linebackers in the underneath game. Better at getting open on intermediate routes. Does not explode off the line, but can move through the jam and release.
After Catch: D
Offers little after the catch. Frequently is brought down immediately after he makes the catch. Shows no wiggle and does not have the burst to get a head of steam in the open field. Can stumble through arm tackles, but susceptible to getting his legs cut out from under him.
Blocking: B-
Has the frame of an on-the-line Y. Lack of athleticism hinders him in this area as well. Gets shucked laterally by defensive backs and even linemen at times. However, can latch on and steer when he can keep defender in front of him.
Red Flags: Tight
Bottom Line: A former JUCO transfer, Bibbs does not embody the modern tight end, but is more of a hybrid between old school blocker and underneath security blanket. Overall, his talent does not jump at as a future starter, but should have a role on a team as a second or third tight end.
Comparison: Anthony McCoy
Grade: 7.5 (5th Round)
