Fantasy Profile: Edwin Encarnacion, 1B, Toronto Blue Jays
LWOS 1B Ranking 4, Captains Value $16.64
Since moving north of the border to Toronto, Encarnacion has become one of the best power bats in all of baseball. Although he was hampered by a quad injury that limited him to play in only 128 games in 2014, Encarnacion still managed to eclipse 30 homers for the third year in a row as he ended with 34. Before getting hurt, Encarnacion was a stud for both the Jays and fantasy owners in main part due to a blistering hot month of May. During the month, Edwin hit 16 homers and drove in 33 runs while hitting at a .281 clip.
With the additions to the Blue Jays lineup (Russel Martin and Josh Donaldson) adding more protection as well as the friendly confines of the Rogers Center still in place, you can feel pretty confident selecting Edwin in the first or second round of drafts this upcoming season. He should avoid major slumps due to his ability to get on base which is demonstrated by his BB% of 11.4% and .354 OBP. Expect somewhere around .270 35HR 100RBI and 90 runs when all is said and done.
