What an interesting night of games tonight is shaping out to be. On a night with so many good low priced plays, one would assume it’s a stars and scrubs kind of lineup for fantasy. If you dig deep enough though you will find that good high priced plays aren’t exactly plentiful tonight, which makes this path tough to take. Understand going in that most people will have Bobby Portis throughout. Hands down best play on the board, and everyone will be on him. So that turns tonight into an eight player contest instead of a nine. Let’s have a brief moment of silence for the people who decide to fade Bobby Portis tonight…………… I’m glad that’s over with. I will be displaying things differently today. I will give my top high priced plays and top value plays. This is due to the simple fact that there is so much value floating around tonight. I want to make sure you have proper plays in mind as the injuries on tonight’s slate will severely impact your lineup choices.
FANTASY NCAAB TOP PLAYS 2-10-15
Top High Priced Plays
Bobby Portis -Forward Arkansas. Price 9800
It doesn’t get much better than this for fantasy ncaab. Auburn is awful on the glass, and Portis is one of the best big men in the country. I usually don’t like paying this kind of tag for players on the road, but the exception here is valid. The most talented player in the highest scoring total of the night. Play him with confidence and worry about the other eight guys.
Cinmeon Bowers -Forward Auburn. Price 9000
A very talented undersized rebounder that just fills up the stat sheet. This game will be very fast paced and plays right into Bowers hands. Harris and Portis will struggle to keep Bowers off the glass and expect a strong game from him here.
Karl-Anthony Towns -Forward Kentucky. Price 7100
How good has Towns been since Lyles has been out? If your wondering the answer is 5-6 times value good. It was always known that once certain players on Kentucky got full game minutes their numbers would be great, and Towns is proving that to be correct. If Lyles sits again (likely) Towns will be in for another full run and the LSU bigs will have severe issues stopping him.
Sterling Gibbs -Guard Seton Hall. Price 8300
You may look at this play and be somewhat scratching your head. The guard position is extremely thin tonight for high priced options, even with such a large slate. The highest upside out of all the top priced guards is Gibbs. The shots will be there, the minutes will be there, and Georgetown has struggled all year to cover talented guards. As a home favorite, Gibbs will shoulder the load tonight against Georgetown.
Levi Randolph -Guard Alabama. Price 7300.
You’ll look at Randolph’s numbers and think he hasn’t been playing great fantasy wise and his price is a bit high for his normal production. Alabama though is so shorthanded that they may have to grab people off the street to play for them tonight. Make sure your cell phones are on tonight as they may call anyone to fill in. With that said, Randolph will lead this offense and have a very high usage rate, so the price is certainly justifiable.
Top Value Plays
Shaq Goodwin -Forward Memphis. Price 5300
No Austin Nichols means yes Shaq Goodwin. Goodwin has been sensational his last two games especially on the glass and with no Nichols, Goodwin may run the entire game. Goodwin can score and rebound very well and with the chance he’ll be given tonight, his recent success will continue. East Carolina is horrible on the glass and Goodwin will own the paint.
Trahson Burrell -Forward Memphis. Price 4500
Burrell should be moved into the starting lineup with the Nichols injury and get a solid run tonight. At minimum price Burrell will certainly get shots off and rebound as the minutes will be there. As mentioned above East Carolina has nothing to look at defensively in the front court. Playing Burrell with Goodwin can also give you protection for Goodwin as at least one of them will have a big game.
Shannon Hale -Forward Alabama. Price 4800
Again this team is very shorthanded. Most likely will run seven guys tonight. Hale will see upwards of 30 minutes barring foul trouble and will have his opportunities to rebound and score. He played well in the last game with the injuries and with Kessens now questionable, Hale may be out there all game. He will be high owned, but is worth the play tonight.
JaJuan Johnson -Guard Marquette. Price 4500
This is strictly if Carlino doesn’t play and this looks to be the case. JaJuan Johnson played great in his last game in which Carlino couldn’t suit up. Johnson will see a good run and be able to fill it up all around in a fast paced game with Xavier.
Steve Taylor -Forward Marquette. Price 4500
Marquette ran seven guys in their last game vs Seton Hall so basically any starter you can make an argument for, but Taylor came off the bench for 29 minutes in that game and was productive. If no Carlino this could mean more minutes to Taylor, and at minimum price he must be in the equation.
