Rico Abreu returned to the dirt ovals this weekend with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA. Abreu became the 8th different winner in as many races to start the season. WoO hasn’t had eight in eight since 1995, and it is the most the series has seen ever.
After a fifth place run on night one, Abreu started second in the feature and lead every lap.
“Everything played out well tonight,” Abreu told woosprint.com. “I got a good start in the dash and then just made every lap count in that feature.”
This comes a year after Abreu scored his first win in the series during last year’s race at Thunderbowl.
The points standings might even be more of an accomplishment as they are really as close as they could be. With no one driver pulling away, just 91 points separate the drivers.

Saturday of course, the series travels to Stockton for the FVP Western Spring Shootout. Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana, Kerry Madsen, and other drivers have yet to win this season, and could make history if they grab one on Saturday.
