The NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament is in full swing. There were some crazy games in round one, with a couple of OT thrillers. We’ve also had some controversy. The finish of the UCLA/SMU game and a goaltending call comes to mind.
We’ve also had the some major upsets with Iowa State and Baylor being the recipients of being one and done. While Villanova didn’t make it out of the first weekend despite being the number one seed in their region.
John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats look unbeatable. They have amazing depth and for many basketball fans they look like they could beat a bad NBA team such as the Minnesota Timberwolves or New York Knicks.
Anything can happen but it will take a mammoth effort to undo the Wildcats. Teams might have stretches where they can keep up with Kentucky but the Wildcats will wear down their opponent through 40 minutes of play, due to their incredible depth, and the pace that allows them to play at.
My favorite game of the weekend was Wichita State defeating the entitled Kansas Jayhawks. They didn’t just beat the Jayhawks, they demolished them. It was a big win for an instate rival.
I’m not happy just because I picked the shockers in one of my brackets, but it I’m, also happy because I just don’t like the Jayhawks.
Now without further ado, this week’s edition of “In a Word” where we break down those stories and more into just one word.
