Offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz is in the process of finalizing a five-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. This is according to ESPN’s Pat McManamon and Adam Schefter. Schwartz spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns.

Mitchell Schwartz To Sign 5-Year Deal with Chiefs
Schwartz was by far the best unrestricted free agent right tackle on the market. He had a very successful first four seasons with the Browns, and now looks to continue his individual success with his new team, as well as attempt to win more games.
In four seasons, Schwartz has not missed a single start or even a single snap, which is truly a remarkable stat considering how many injuries we see every year. To not even miss a single snap goes to show how durable and reliable Schwartz is at the right tackle position. Not only is Schwartz very healthy, he is also an elite player. He has drawn comparisons to Browns left tackle and former teammate Joe Thomas based on his play and work ethic. Last year, per Pro Football Focus, Schwartz was the second-highest rated right tackle in the NFL with a 86.6 grade, only .04 points below Atlanta Falcons right tackle Ryan Schraeder. Pass blocking is his better talent, but he is a solid run blocker as well. Pro Football Focus graded him an 86.8 for his pass blocking efforts and a 79.0 for his run blocking abilities.
Schwartz hasn’t played left tackle in the NFL yet, but he might make the switch for his new team if they need him to. He definitely has the skill, and as stated before, he’s extremely reliable when the question of health comes into play.
Before being drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Schwartz was a star tackle at the University of California, Berkeley. He won the Brick Muller Award, which is given to the Golden Bears’ most valuable offensive lineman, three times.
