Stampeders hold off Tiger-Cats

Offense

Quarterback Zach Collaros threw for over 400 yards with three touchdowns. Receiver Terrence Toliver was a monster catching the ball. Toliver led the team with nine catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Receivers Luke Tasker, Chad Owens, and Andy Fantuz were very effective catching balls. On the flip side, running back C.J. Gable was ineffective. For the majority of the game, the offensive line did a good job protecting the franchise quarterback. Most noteworthy of the performance by this unit was the amount of penalties committed.

Defense/Special Teams

The Tiger-Cats defense were tough to watch. Furthermore, the secondary had an another rough performance, allowing the proficient Calgary Stampeders offense to 323 passing yards. However, linebackers Simoni Lawrence and Larry Dean had another solid performance with a combined fifteen tackles.

The Hamilton special teams consequently lacked discipline. Most noteworthy, the special teams ace Brandon Banks was ineffective. Either way, both the secondary and special teams need to toughen their discipline, and finally play to their potential.

Conclusion

Spoiling a valiant fourth quarter effort by the Tiger-Cats was the lack of discipline impossed by the coaching staff. It is unacceptable for the football team to take so many unnecessary penalites. The offense is looking a lot more smooth and efficient due to having Zach Callaros in command. With this team standing 4-5, after overcoming adversity to start the year, they are in good condition heading to Labour Day Classic against Toronto. Finally, if the Tiger-Cats want to make a major push towards winning the East Division again, they need to do well in the coming weeks against their divisional opponents.
