FANTASY PROFILE: HOWIE KENDRICK, 2B, LOS ANGELES DODGERS
LWOS Ranking 14, Captain’s Value: $11.09
As the new second basemen for a revamped Dodger middle infield, Howie Kendrick represents solid value late in the draft. If you miss on your early targets, Kendrick is a safe backup plan waiting deep in the draft. Over the last five seasons, he has averaged 13 HR, 75 RBI & 14 SB per 162 games while also hitting .288. Kendrick won’t blow the doors off any category, but he won’t hurt you. He should hit either 2nd or 5th in the order, but has shown the ability to hit anywhere in the lineup.
The 2015 Dodgers are surely different than they were a year ago, but Kendrick is a safe pick with steady production. It’s perhaps unwise to plan your team around him, given that he likely won’t hit 20+ home runs or swipe 20+ bags, but he’s a solid fall back option.
