FANTASY PROFILE: Jonathan Schoop, 2B, BALTIMORE ORIOLES

LWOS Ranking 26, Captain’s Value: -$3.47

Jonathan Schoop surprised everyone last year with his power. He made his extra base hits count, as nearly half of his extra base hits were Home Runs. How does this help us predict the future?

The thing Schoop did more than anything else, is strike out. That’s right; Schoop had a 27 more strikeouts than hits in 2014. To make matters worse, his BB to SO ratio was 13/122. Having a BB/SO ratio similar to that will not help with the batting average.

More importantly, it speaks to a bad contact percentage, which suggests continued struggles. The talent seems to be there, the youth certainly is, but the question is if he’s ready for baseball on the Major League level.

Roll the dice on him if you want, but know that the most likely result is a lot of strikeouts, a terrible batting average, and maybe some power.
