Schlemko entered July 1st’s free agency period as an unrestricted free agent.
The 28-year-old defenseman put up just 4 points in 44 games split between Arizona, Dallas, and Calgary in 2014-2015, but he proved himself to be a reliable, steadying defensive presence on the back end. Schlemko was a big pickup for the Flames at the trade deadline helping to fill some of the minutes left open by the season-ending injury suffered by captain Mark Giordano.
Schlemko, a native of Edmonton, Alberta was never drafted into the NHL. He stands 6’1″ tall and weighs in at 190 lbs. He’s a left-handed shot. His career high in points was 14, set in 2010-2011, when he played 43 games as a member of the Coyotes.
