What an NBA season it has been so far. We’ve had many surprises, with some teams picking up right where they left off. Even though it’s only the beginning of the season, we can start to tell which players and teams are heading in the right direction. Let’s take a look at some winners and losers so far.
Indiana Pacers, Winner: This one is obvious. This team is clicking on all cylinders right now. They still have yet to lose. Paul George has gotten even better, and could possibly make a case for MVP this year. Indiana’s defense is better than last year. I really didn’t think it could get much better, but it did. CJ Watson, Luis Scola and Chris Copeland were great pickups for the Pacers this offseason. At first I felt that Chicago might have the edge over Indiana, but I think right now we can tell who has the edge. Without a doubt, this team is best equipped to dethrone the Heat.
Steve Nash, Loser: Ahh, more injuries for Steve Nash. He hasn’t really been the same ever since he fractured his leg last season. He is still suffering nerve damage from that. The Lakers made it official that he will miss about two weeks to recover. Things really aren’t looking too good in LA right now. #TANKFORWIGGINS
Utah Jazz, Winner: This team is perfecting #TANKFORWIGGINS. They are 0-8 right now, still searching for that first win. Keep losing Utah, and you’ll have a great shot at the lottery to see Andrew Wiggins in a Jazz uniform.
Derrick Rose, Winner/Loser: Obviously, Derrick Rose is a winner just because he’s playing again. It’s great to see him back on the court. Unfortunately, his game hasn’t been how it used to be. He’s not scoring as much, and he is turning the ball over more. Don’t start to panic, Bulls fans. D-Rose will eventually get back into his groove. Just be patient.
Russell Westbrook,Winner: He came back a few weeks earlier, and he hasn’t lost a step. Russell Westbrook is already back to his form. He looks more explosive than ever. Kevin Durant has got his partner in crime back, and OKC is back to being serious title contenders.
Kevin Love, Winner: Man this guy is good. He is pretty much a walking double-double. Things are looking great in Minnesota for Kevin Love right now, and it looks like this team will still be playing come April.
Cleveland Cavaliers, Losers: Cleveland isn’t looking like the team we were expecting them to be. Yes, they have Kyrie Irving, but other players aren’t producing. I still don’t understand why this team took Anthony Bennett with the first pick. He is 1-24 from the field so far in his NBA career. Hopefully Andrew Bynum is able to give valuable minutes for this team. If not, we won’t be seeing Cleveland in the playoffs.
Eric Bledsoe, Winner: This guy is an absolute stud. As I’ve said before, he is a mini LeBron James. I’m not saying he’s better than LeBron or even close to it, but he is always flirting with a triple double. If he is able to keep playing at this high level, the future in Phoenix is bright.
Anthony Davis, Winner: Anthony Davis is not experiencing a sophomore slump. He is on an absolute tear right now. I have a strong feeling we will be seeing this guy in the all star game this year. His shot has gotten better, and so has his rebounding. Don’t mess with the unibrow.
New York Teams, Loser: Both the Knicks and Nets haven’t been playing up to their expectations. It seems as if the Nets are still trying to get their chemistry together. And I have no idea what’s going on with the Knicks. Get it together, Knicks, or Carmelo won’t be there for much longer. And for the Nets, I didn’t even expect them to be that good anyways.
It’s still early in the NBA season, so some of these may change. You can already tell it’s going to be a fun and exciting season.
