It was just prior to game time when the Bruins made a late last minute decision. David Krejci had took part and skated in the warm-ups, dressed and ready to go for the game or so it seemed. Krejci was then made a late minute scratch for the Black and Gold. Matt Fraser slid into Krejci’s vacant spot and made his first start since the Bruins won 4-0 against Buffalo. He had been a healthy scratch eight times so far this season.
Fraser saw this chance to play as an opportunity. He pulled on his jersey and was ready to go. He made an immediate impact on the ice and has made a case for more playing time. Fraser exploded with two goals for the Bruins during the game.
Fraser’s impact was more than just the goals. He created chances and opportunities on the ice as he played on the left side on Soderberg and Eriksson’s line. The Bruins played with high sparks of energy, dominating nearly the entire game as they defeated Ottawa by a final score of 4-2.
The Bruins played a game true to the Bruins’ style. They played a good full 60 minutes of hockey, and everyone seemed to step up and contribute to the win. They need to keep on going like that.
The opportunity to play gave Fraser the ability to show off some of his talent. Being on the ice seemed to allow him to gain more and more confidence as he flourished during Saturday night’s game.
Fraser proved that when he is on the ice, good things happen. He wants to be part of the game and keep on being able to play.
There’s no word on Krejci’s status or injury. If Krejci is kept out of the lineup for any number of games, you can plan on seeing Fraser most likely step into the game some more.
Fraser may be the burst of energy that the Bruins are looking for. He came as a breath of fresh air into the game on Saturday as he impressed the crowd with two big goals.
The Bruins rose above .500 due to the 4-2 win over the Sens. They need to find a way to keep on going, gaining wins, and points. It is crucial for them to bring their consistency to every single game. The Black and Gold must find a way to play even despite the injuries.
Even when one player goes down, you have to keep playing because there are games on the line. The Bruins need to figure out their early season struggles and put an end to those. They have to find a way to win. They have to find a way to go onto the ice and play better than the other team for a full 60 minutes. Maybe Matt Fraser can help contribute to that.
