Following his strong runs at the Japanese, Russian and United States Grand Prix, Jenson Button once again was a standout performer at the Brazilian Grand Prix as he took a really strong points finish at the circuit where he won his World Championship five years ago as he drives for his Formula One career. Results like this will do him no harm at all. Meanwhile, Kevin Magnussen showed his class but ultimately could only manage a ninth place.
McLaren Brazilian Grand Prix Review
No. 20 Kevin Magnussen (DEN)
Grid: P7
Race: P9
It was a pretty tough weekend for Magnussen. He was fractions behind his team mate in qualifying and he got wedged in the Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo tussle early on. He was unable to make any progress from that and was outwitted by Kimi Räikkönen and Nico Hülkenberg who tried different strategies.
No. 22 Jenson Button (GBR)
Grid: P5
Race: P4
Button arguably maximised the potential of the car in both qualifying and in the race, placing himself behind only the Mercedes and the Williams cars in qualifying and making up a place once Valtteri Bottas suffered loose seatbelts. It is yet another strong points finish for the British driver who is clearly trying his very best to remain in Formula One. If he somehow wins at Abu Dhabi and Bottas fails to score, Button will finish the season in sixth, but the chances are that he will finish in either seventh of eighth place.
