Penguins Forward Pascal Dupuis Diagnosed With Blood Clot

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Pascal Dupuis will be out for at least six months after being diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung. He was tested on Monday     after feeling discomfort in his chest.

Penguins team physician Dr. Dharmesh said “Pascal had a blood clot in his leg that traveled to his lung,” and “In medical terms, that is a deep vein thrombosis resulting in a pulmonary embolism. This is the second such incident that we know of for Pascal. The treatment is at least six months of blood thinners, during which time he will not be able to play hockey. Other than that, his condition is stable.”

The 35 year old right wing veteran has played in 16 games this season, and has posted six goals and five assists in that time. In his 14 year career, he has played for the Minnesota Wild (334 games), New York Rangers (6 games), Atlanta Thrashers (79 games), and currently with the Penguins, who he has spent most of his career, playing in 434 games.
