Wednesday was a wild day of baseball capping off with Philadelphia Phillies’ Michael Lorenzen throwing the 14th no-hitter in team history against the Washington Nationals. Elsewhere, Los Angeles Angels’ Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB History with ten wins and 40 HRs in a single season after throwing six shutout innings against the San Fransisco Giants. The Seattle Mariners debuted pitcher Emerson Hancock who turned around to throw five solid innings against the San Diego Padres.

Yesterday, we went 2-1 in our daily picks. Cincinnati Reds Joey Votto went 3-4 with three singles and did not get a home run off old friend Johnny Cueto. Pittsburgh Pirates Bryan Reynolds went 1-5 with a single, cashing out our o0.5 hits bet, and Los Angeles Dodgers Freddie Freeman came through big, going 2-4 with a double and cashed out o1.5 total bases.
Thursday features baseball games all day starting at 12:35 EST; LWOS has three MLB bets to get your Thursday started right. Don’t forget to tail and BOL!
HOUSTON ASTROS VS. BALTIMORE ORIOLES: HOU o4.5 TT (-135)
The Houston Astros beat the Baltimore Orioles last night 8-2 as they got to starter Jack Flaherty early in the game. The Astros have been playing well recently by going 7-3 in their last ten games. Scoring over seven runs in four of their previous five.
Baltimore is sending out Dean Kremer, who has been up and down all year. His numbers are worse in Baltimore. His ERA is two runs higher at home than on the road (5.35 v 3.70) and in day vs night games (5.88 v 3.98). Add in the fact that four Astros hitters have over a .300 lifetime average off of Kremer, and it looks like a difficult task for the Oriole right-hander.
Take the Astros team total to go o4.5 at -135, or the Astros ML at -120.
ATLANTA BRAVES VS PITTSBURGH PIRATES: MICHAEL HARRIS II o1.5 TB (+130)
Michael Harris went off on Wednesday night: 3-4, double, walk, and stolen base. He has been even better the last month: .353/.396/.569 and is getting a favorable matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates lefty Bailey Falter, who is 0-7 with a 4.87 ERA.
Harris has gone 2-4 with a home run off of Falter and has been riding a four-game hit streak during this current series in Pittsburgh. Looking closer at the numbers, Harris hits better in a day vs. night game (.325 v .273), LHP vs. RHP (.301 v .289), and has been hitting over .400 since the All-Star break.
Falter will lean on his four-seam fastball (.343 opp avg), and Harris has hit the fastball well this year (.338 avg and .500 SLG). Take his total bases o1.5 (+130) or his hit total over (-260).
WASHINGTON NATIONALS’ VS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES: ALEC BOHM o1.5 TB (-125)
Michael Lorenzen, understandably, took all the headlines last night for the Phillies, but you would be a fool, not to mention the improved play of Philadelphia Phillies’ Alec Bohm. From once muttering he hated Philadelphia under his breath, he has become a team favorite and has been swinging a hot bat recently, too.
Bohm has 20 At-bats against Washington Nationals’ Patrick Corbin, going .350, and has two home runs. He slashes .386/.444/.614 in his last 15 games, and three of his 22 hits have been home runs. Plus, Bohm is hitting .330 against lefties this season and slashing .291/.344/491 in his career against the Nationals.
Corbin throws his slider and sinker 77% of the time this season, and it has been seen well by hitters, who have slugged a .550xSLG and a .481xSLG against them in 2023. Bohm’s xBA of .283 and .292 on these pitches in 2023 favors him well tonight.
Take Bohm’s over total bases prop (-125), over 1.5 hits (+135), or his home run prop (+380) for a solid play on Thursday night.
