MILWAUKEE — American Family Field, and Milwaukee in general, isn’t exactly a hotbed for celebrity visits. Saturday, however, was an exception, as legendary rapper and music producer Snoop Dogg was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the Milwaukee Brewers’ matinee against the Cincinnati Reds ahead of a performance later that night at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino.

The 17-time Grammy Award nominee took the field to a standing ovation from the crowd of 38,419, which roared even louder after Snoop threw a spot-on strike to Brewers first base coach Quintin Berry.

After leaving the field, Snoop stopped to take a phone call from another all-time legend, and perhaps the only person who might have received a louder reception Saturday: the Brewers’ longtime radio announcer and Baseball Hall of Fame member Bob Uecker.

Snoop’s day wasn’t done, though. He made his way up to the Bally Sports Wisconsin broadcast booth, where he proved to be just as skilled at play-by-play as he is at dropping rhymes.

After the game — a 3-1 Brewers victory — Brewers players were still pinching themselves over getting the chance to meet one of the most prolific rappers of all time.
“I got a picture with him,” said right-hander Bryse Wilson, who picked up his fourth victory of the season after throwing 5 1/3 innings of scoreless ball. “That’s one of the cooler if not the coolest experience that I’ve had as a professional baseball player. I mean, you look at him and he’s like, ‘Oh, he’s as A-list as it gets and it’s like, you know, unless you play for the Dodgers I feel like you never get to meet that guy. I mean, that was awesome. That was super cool.”
Brewers manager Pat Murphy, who helped Snoop with a few warm-up tosses in the tunnel leading to the Brewers’ dugout and shared a few laughs before the big moment came away impressed, too.
“He seemed like a nice man,” Murphy said.
