Although the Yankees have a nice record, they have only won a few series against a superb team this season. Other teams, like the Dodgers and Orioles, have defeated the Yankees. Despite the Yankees ability to defeat some good teams like the Cleveland Guardians, the Yankees do not look good against powerhouses. The Mets have been able to compete more with contenders, as they’ve won a series against the Braves, Dodgers, and the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees defeating the Mets is not as great as the Yankees defeating the Phillies, but it shows they can defeat a team with a powerful lineup like the Mets. The Yankees are 3-7 in their last 10; the Mets are 8-2 in their previous 10.
Overall, the series remains one of the most important series the Mets or Yankees will play in these coming weeks. The Yankees will need to show some ability, and the Mets will need to get back to .500 and get a wild card spot.
