ESPN’s MLB Insider Jeff Passan has come up as a candidate to switch from baseball to NBA and take over Adrian Wojnarowski. Shams Charania is another candidate that has come up in talks. Passan joined ESPN in January of 2019. In 2021, Passan signed a multi-year extension with ESPN. Passan is a journalist, reporter, and head commentator for MLB. While Passan covers and writes on all MLB teams, he believes that the Philadelphia Phillies are the top team in baseball. This season, the Phillies have made a name for themselves by securing their very first NL East title. They haven’t accomplished this since 2011.

Passan’s Career And Accomplishments
The thought of Passan leaving MLB will be hard for fans to wrap their heads around. The baseball community thrives off of Passan as he has been highly regarded for his top-notch reporting skills. He has provided the world with up-to-date news updates for MLB and his connections and expertise in the baseball field are profound. Passan writes for the ESPN website, consistently appearing on several baseball-televised networks and providing coverage on social media (Twitter) for ESPN. He has appeared on SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, Sunday Night Baseball, and more.
Passan has also been a part of ESPN podcasts. But his work hasn’t stopped here as he is also an author. His novel The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of the Most Valuable Commodity in Sports is a New York Times bestseller. Passan also spent 13 years with Yahoo Sports before joining ESPN. With all he has done for baseball, the mere thought of him abandoning baseball is a hard pill to swallow. Passan’s heart, soul, and blood are in the game of baseball. But if Passan were to switch, of course, he would succeed. Passan’s reporting and columnist skills are eclectic and have earned him major respect in the field.
Passan’s admiration, and dedication alone are two reasons to appreciate how he has impacted and shaped the game. He would be difficult to replace, as his rare insider skills could not be replicated. For example, in 2022, Passan decided to write an ESPN article about Trea Turner, but the piece was refreshing as he made it entertaining. “I love watching Trea Turner slide, so I decided to write about how he helped turn a long-underappreciated play into an art form. Along the way, I learned Turner is a terrible dancer, can build computers, and is on the verge of history.”
