Jordan Brand sneakers for story about Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young

Atlanta Hawks face of the franchise Trae Young finding a new sneaker home didn’t take too much time off the clock.

Hawks All-Star Trae Young Signs With Jordan After Adidas Split

After parting ways with Adidas shortly before the season, Young has agreed to sign a shoe endorsement contract with Jordan Brand, per Boardroom insider Nick DePaula. Upon completing the deal, he says: “This brand embodies basketball, style, a desire to win and the desire to be great.”

Young is set to headline the Air Jordan 39, which officially released in late July. Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero debuted the sneakers in the First Round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

There are already nine colorways for the model. However, Jordan Brand plans to launch more colorways for the 39 series through next summer. With that being said, aesthetically, it’s “simpler in design” than other models. Technologically, the Air Jordan 39 is “the first basketball shoe featuring full lengths of both ZoomX foam and Air Zoom.”

A Perfect Match

It’s no wonder the opportunity was so appealing to Young. All of the qualities that he believes the brand reflects are ones that he does as well.

The fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Young has captivated basketball fans across the world on his way to earning three All-Star selections and counting. He’s not just well on his way to becoming the best player Hawks history. His name is in the league history books alongside Hall of Fame players like Steve Nash thanks to his extraordinary guard skills.

Unironically, he’s Atlanta’s version of Michael Jordan; their offensive engine. The 26-year-old even has his own Scottie Pippen now.
