Wednesday NBA Player Props & Picks
Desmond Bane Over 28.5 Points + Assists
We like this pick specifically if Morant is ruled out. Backup point guard Tyus Jones is far from a slouch, which allows for Bane to remain a productive scorer. Bane also made strides as a facilitator this season, so he can be expected to pick up some of the slack tonight as well.
This is as “must-win” as it gets without actually facing elimination, so bettors can expect the Grizzlies to play with some urgency. Remember, it’s not uncommon for teams to play well despite missing their star(s).
BONUS: It’s reasonable to anticipate the Grizz getting out on the front foot in a high-paced contest. The Over on Bane’s first-quarter assists is worth considering for those seeking plus-money wagers.
Anthony Edwards (-0.5 Points) vs. Nikola Jokic
This is a little bit of gut-check time for the Timberwolves – and Edwards in particular. Edwards’ Game 1 performance left too much to be desired, especially from a former No. 1 overall pick. Look for him to bounce back in Game 2.
Jokic, meanwhile, doesn’t need to dominate the scoring column to dominate a game. His supporting cast is more likely to be sharp on its home floor, and he won’t be asked to dominate in the points department.
Jrue Holiday Over 2.5 Three-Pointers
We’re proceeding as if Giannis Antetokounmpo will sit tonight’s contest, placing more of the scoring load on Holiday’s plate. It’s a role in which he fared well this season. He will be among those tasked with putting the “next man up” mantra into practice.
Holiday shot 38.4% from three-point range this season, and with the expected increase in shot volume, three makes from distance are in the cards.
Nikola Jokic Over 21.5 Assists + Rebounds
We’re not picking the Timberwolves to win tonight, but look for them to put more pressure on the Nuggets. At least enough to force Jokic beyond the 30-minute mark. The Nuggets have an opportunity to put this series in a chokehold, which they likely will.
Jokic finished with 20 combined boards and dimes in 28 minutes. It’s not difficult to imagine another busy night on the glass with even more assists in Game 2.
