Friday’s NBA Player Props Picks
Anthony Edwards Over 27.5 Points
Edwards shot poorly in a win over the Warriors on Wednesday, but we still love the current run he’s enjoying. He finished with 27 in that contest, but is averaging 29.9 over his last 10. That includes percentages of 47.8/41.3/79.7 with heavy volume.
Not only is Orlando mediocre-to-poor in key defensive metrics – and absent an obvious individual defender who can contain Edwards – but they’re in the midst of a challenging road trip. They last played at home on January 28, and they’ve lost three of four overall. Finally, Minnesota is -4.5, suggesting a competitive contest.
Jayson Tatum Over 8.5 Rebounds | Bonus: Jayson Tatum Double-Double
Barring injury, double digit points is a given. We also like the way he’s been cleaning the glass – 11.2 rebounds over last 10 with double-digit boards in six of those. Bettors with a lower tolerance for risk can lay the shorter odds on him hitting Over 8.5 rebounds.
However, for those who want to pursue plus-money profits, betting on the double-double offers intrigue. It’s no surprise that Phoenix doesn’t play as well on the road, illustrated in part by the 9.5 points they’re getting, but it’s the absence of Devin Booker that really hampers their attack and offensive efficiency.
We anticipate rebounds being the most likely statistic to complete a double-double, but Tatum has dished out 10-plus assists twice for good measure. Before placing this wager, make sure you’re comfortable with the blowout risk. The Celtics won their meeting in Phoenix by 27, limiting Tatum to 29 minutes.
Walker Kessler Over 2.5 Blocks + Steals
The biggest factor here is the increased playing time Kessler is earning. He started the Jazz’s last 10 games, playing 26.9 minutes per contest. The Jazz are 7-3 over that stretch while Kessler averages 11.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, and 0.6 steals over that span.
Atlanta attempts the most two-point field goals in the league, so their “standard” offensive objective will theoretically send them into the teeth of Kessler’s kitchen. Kessler blocked three-plus shots on 17 occasions. He recorded three steals-plus-blocks four additional times. We just want to see Kessler approach 30 minutes. The rest will take care of itself.
Domantas Sabonis Over 43.5 Points + Assists + Rebounds
The Kings will be without De’Aaron Fox (personal) tonight, and while Sabonis did not see a stark increase in shot attempts throughout Fox’s previous three absences, it stands to reason he’ll see an uptick in usage. Sabonis, after all, owns the Kings’ best offensive rating.
Sabonis averaged 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists in those three contests sans Fox. However, they came against the Heat, Cavaliers, and Knicks, three teams with either good defenses and/or slow paces. Tonight’s tip should feature more tempo and less resistance from the Pacers’ 23rd rated defense.
