Thursday NBA Playoff Player Props & Picks
Cameron Johnson Over 2.5 Three-Pointers
Johnson is playing with confidence and efficiency on increased volume. He knocked down nine of his 17 three-point attempts through two first-round games. This is a spot in which we expect him to continue producing.
Johnson and the Nets will have the home crowd behind them tonight, in what may be their best shot at a victory in the series. Look for them to come out with urgency and energy, and for Johnson to have plenty of looks from range.
Stephen Curry Over 7.5 points 1st Quarter
This is admittedly an aggressive play, but we’re considering the aggression the Warriors and their home crowd will employ in what is essentially a must-win contest.
The Dubs’ backs are against the wall, and it’s not hyperbole to suggest the end of their dynasty is within view. The bet here is that Curry, in particular, will embrace the urgency, ride the initial wave of a crazed Chase Center crowd, and get the Warriors out on the front foot.
Russell Westbrook Over 7.5 Assists
Westbrook has really been impressive through two games, his 34.3% shooting from the floor notwithstanding. He’s coming off a 28-point performance in Game 2, but in theory, he shouldn’t have to do quite as much scoring in Game 3.
The Clippers – and especially their role players – stand to receive a boost on their home floor. If secondary scorers enjoy a higher degree of comfort, Westbrook will be able to play the role of distributor as opposed to shot-taker.
Kevin Durant + Kawhi Leonard Over 58.5 Points
Look for the Suns’ and Clippers’ biggest stars to be locked and loaded for tonight’s pivotal Game 3 tilt. Every playoff game is certainly important, but momentum is in the balance for these teams in this series. This moment won’t be too grand for the likes of Durant and Leonard, the latter of whom is averaging 34.5 points through two contests.
Durant, meanwhile, played the supporting role to Devin Booker (38 points) in the Suns’ Game 2 win. He still added 25 points of his own. This is the type of game for which the Suns acquired Durant. And the same can be said for the Clippers and Kawhi. It won’t be a surprise to see these two megastars combine for 60 points (or 59 to be specific).
