We’ve now made in four weeks into the season. As conference play begins in full force the majority of the country, we’ll see the Heisman race heat up. Our top three remains unchanged. However, there may be some surprises in store in our overall voting this week. We’ll look at the movers and shakers in the week three Heisman rankings.

This is a week of big surprises. First, who would have thought that Bryce Love would not have a single vote? He did have 89 yards and a score in their epic comeback win against Oregon on Saturday. But, he hasn’t reached the same level of a year ago.

Now, before we get into the full rankings, what does the University of Hawaii and Old Dominion have in common? Historically, those two schools don’t have much relevance in the national scene, let alone in the Heisman race. Nevertheless, Blake LaRussa joins us after his heroics led to a monumental upset of Virginia Tech. And, Cole McDonald gets multiple votes with his 20 touchdown passes on the season. Now, Let’s find out about the complete list as we dive right into our week three Heisman rankings.

Top Five Candidates

1. Tua Tagovailoa

QB | Alabama                                                    Next Game: 9/29 vs Louisiana Lafayette

Tagovailoa had his toughest test of the young season against Texas A&M. He passed with flying colors in throwing for 387 yards and accounting for five scores. He still does not have a turnover this season while completing nearly 73% of his passes. As the Tide host Louisiana Lafayette, it will be another opportunity for bolstering his numbers.

2. Will Grier

QB | West Virginia                                                    Next Game: 9/29 at Texas Tech

After a little bit of a slow start last week, Grier exploded late in the second quarter and the third against Kansas State. He threw for five scores through the air as part of his total 356 yards passing. The Mountaineers will head to Lubbock to face a surprisingly touch Texas Tech team which is fresh off their dominating upset over Oklahoma State on Saturday.

3. Kyler Murray

QB | Oklahoma                                                     Next Game: 9/29 vs Baylor

The Sooner nation can breathe a collective sigh of relief after Oklahoma survived the upset bid against Army. Murray still performed well considering his team possessed the football for only 15 of the possible 60 minutes. He did account for all four touchdowns that the Sooners amassed with three through the air and one on the ground.

4. Dwayne Haskins

QB | Ohio State                                                     Next Game: 9/29 at Penn State

Haskins was nearly flawless on Saturday against Tulane. He had more touchdown passes (5) than incompletions (3). He leads our Heisman quarterback group with 16 touchdowns on the season in the air. Haskins will have the opportunity to make the biggest statement as his Buckeyes head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State in the White Out game.

5. Benny Snell

RB | Kentucky                                                      Next Game: 9/29 vs South Carolina

Welcome to the show, Mr. Snell. He has Lexington thinking that basketball season can take its time. Snell has been instrumental in Kentucky starting off 4-0 and ranked in the top 25. He was particularly special last week against Mississippi State with four touchdowns on the ground. It’s an interesting matchup for Snell and the Wildcats as they face South Carolina at home.
