Kentucky Recruiting Profiles- Destin and Keaten Wade

Destin And Keaten Wade

Two High Profile Players From Tennessee

While the Cats lost on the football field to Tennessee they are making up for it on the recruiting trail. Currently, Mark Stoops’ 2022 class ranks 13th in the nation according to 247 Sports and fifth in the SEC. A big reason for it is three players from the Volunteer state. In fact, two of the three are family. Let’s give you some background info on both with our Kentucky recruiting profiles- Destin and Keaten Wade.

Big Time Playmaker

The twins committed to Kentucky over Louisville, Tennessee, and Virginia back on April 16th. Destin Wade is a four-star athlete who comes in as the 366th best prospect in the nation by 247 Sports and 12th best in the state. At Summit High School in Spring Hill, Tennessee Destin was the starting quarterback.

In the recently completed season, Wade rushed for 1,463 yards and 21 touchdowns. In addition, he threw for another 926 yards and 12 more touchdowns. He led his team to 25 straight wins before losing in the Class 6A title game. As a junior, he led the Spartans to the Class 5A state championship.

Continuing our Kentucky Recruiting Profiles-Destin and Keaten Wade let’s look at the other twin who plays defense.

Star In The Making?

Keaten Wade is a six-foot-four outside linebacker playing at Summit High School in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He ranks as the 200th by 247 Sports. In addition, he’s the fifth-best player in the Volunteer State. In 2020 he was limited by injuries playing in only three games. However, he returned and had a strong season. As a result, he ended up being selected for the All-American Bowl where he’ll play alongside future Cat Kiyaunta Goodwin.

How They Fit In

As an edge defender Keaten should be a great fit for Brad White’s defense. One needs to only look at last year’s draft and the remarkable development of Jamin Davis and “Boogie” Watson and DeAndre Square to see how the Cats get players ready for the next level.

Destin Wade is a great athlete who can play several positions as part of Liam Coen’s offense. Whether it’s quarterback, running back, or even receiver. You may remember the last time Kentucky plucked a great athlete out of the Volunteer state it was Randall Cobb. He turned out to have a pretty good career.
