Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Big Batch Beverages

Happy Football Friday. This week we have some tasty tailgate treats: “Big Batch Beverages”. Enough beverages to quench the thirst of your whole crowd.  Did you save last week’s Tailgate Treats On a Stick?  We have had a couple of weeks of treats, so now we have some beverages to go along with those treats. A tailgate isn’t complete without a proper selection of drinks.

Football Friday Tailgate Treats: Big Batch Beverages

Big Batch Bloody Marys

A Bloody Mary is always good for the early kickoffs.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • Combine tomato juice, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and celery salt in a large punch bowl or glass dispenser, stirring until well combined.
  • Stir in vodka, and serve immediately. Garnish each serving with celery stalks with leaves or pickled okra, if desired.

Bourbon Bloody Marys

What could a Bloody Mary be even better? BOURBON!

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • Whisk together vegetable juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire, and celery salt in a large pitcher until well combined. Cover; chill for at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours.
  • Pour 1 cup vegetable juice mixture into each of 6 tall glasses filled with ice. Top each with ¼ cup (2 oz.) bourbon, and stir well to combine. Garnish as desired.

Whiskey-Apple Cider Punch Recipe

A perfect tailgate beverage. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing.

Ingredients:

  • Instructions:
  • Combine thawed frozen cranberries, light brown sugar, and 1/4 cup water in a food processor; process until cranberries are roughly chopped and sugar has almost dissolved, about 30 seconds. Transfer to a large bowl. Add bourbon, fresh lemon juice, honey, and remaining 1⁄4 cup of water; stir until well combined and sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a 3- to 4-quart pitcher, discarding solids.
  • Chill at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours. Just before serving, gently stir in sparkling apple cider. Pour into glasses, and, if desired, garnish with Granny Smith apple slices.

Big Batch ‘SPIKED” Arnold Palmers

Lemonade and iced tea with a little bourbon ti kick it to tailgate level.

Ingredients:

  • Stir together tea, lemonade, bourbon, and simple syrup in a large bowl or pitcher. Add lemon slices; refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours or up to 24. Serve over ice, and garnish with mint sprigs and lemon slices.

Big-Batch Margaritas

Because a margarita is always cool and refreshing.

Instructions:

  • 1 (12-oz.) can frozen limeade concentrate
  • 12 ounces cold water
  • 12 ounces silver tequila
  • 6 ounces orange-flavored liqueur (such as Triple Sec or Grand Marnier)
  • 1 (12-oz.) bottle Mexican lager (such as Corona), chilled
  • Lime wedges

Instructions:

  • 1. Use decent booze. I’m not saying it has to be top-shelf, but there are plenty of really great tequilas available at a reasonable price (think $20 to $25 range).  It’s a fantastic go-to for margs and doesn’t break the bank.
  • 2. Make sure all of your ingredients are ice cold (except for the frozen concentrate–you want to let it thaw just a little).
  • 3.  For this recipe, Corona is recommended, but if you want to use another Mexican beer, go for it.

Cherry Limeade – Non Alcoholic

For the kids or anyone who loves the classic flavor of Cherry Limeade

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  • Combine the lemon-lime soda, lime juice, and grenadine in a large pitcher, and stir. Chill.
  • Pour into individual glasses filled with ice, garnishing each with cherries and limes.
  • NOTE: You don’t want to make this too far in advance or the soda will go flat, but you can make it just before guests arrive and store it in the refrigerator.

On The Menu

Next week we will have more tasty tailgate treats for you to explore as we cruise through the first month of football season. Hope your teams wins.  Hope you have a GREAT tailgate party! Enjoy!
