Jalen Milroe Collects Multiple Player of the Week Honors

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was honored by multiple outlets after his performance in the Crimson Tide’s 41-34 thrilling win over Georgia. Milroe was named the AP Player of the Week for the second time this year. He was also named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the Week. That award goes to the top offensive player in Division One football. There was also the Davey O’Brien Award that goes to the best quarterback. The Walter Camp Offensive Player of the Week. As well as the Maxwell Award Player of the Week.

Clutch Performance

Milroe led Alabama to a four-touchdown lead in the first half and a 30-7 score at halftime. But then Georgia mounted their huge comeback. The Crimson Tide had only scored three points in the second half with 2:30 left to go in the game. That’s when Georgia and Carson Beck took the lead 34-33. Then Milroe hit receiver Ryan Williams for a scintillating 75-yard touchdown to put the Crimson Tide up for good. The victory moved Alabama to the top-ranked spot in the AP poll and put them as a legitimate front-runner to win the National Championship.

Final Numbers

The dual-threat star finished 27 for 33 for 374 yards and two touchdowns. He did throw an interception that was deflected, his first of the year. He ran the ball 16 times for 117 yards, both leading the team and two more scores. Just complete dominance throughout the first half and then as good of a play as you will see with the game on the line. As we said a couple of weeks ago he was on his way to superstardom and that’s truly coming to fruition.

Career Year

Milroe is easily having the best season of his career and has been the best player in college football so far. His 73 percent completion percentage is by far the highest of his career. He’s thrown for 964 yards, rushed for 273 yards, and had 18 total touchdowns and one interception through only four games. Milroe will try to keep his hot hand going this coming week when Alabama travels to Vanderbilt to take on the Commodores. According to FanDuel, the Crimson Tide are favored by 23 and a half points.

Heisman Favorite

This elite performance had the odds-makers taking notice too. FanDuel has moved Milroe up to the best odds to win the Heisman at +220. Travis Hunter from Colorado is next closest at +500. Milroe is already skyrocketing up early draft boards for the 2025 NFL draft. If he keeps going at this pace, he could end up being the number one overall pick in April.
