LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections

LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections

Another Crazy Saturday Shakes Up The Rankings

We knew once the first selection committee rankings came out on Tuesday it would mean big changes to our bowl projections. As expected a couple of teams were slotted much higher and some others lower. As a result this week’s picks changed quite a bit from a week ago. Of course that was before another wild week of college football that changed things up even more. There’s a lot to discuss so let’s get right to it with our LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections.

College Football Playoff

Orange Bowl- December 31st- (1) Georgia vs. (4) Oregon- As expected the Bulldogs land in the top spot and are still slotted for Miami. They had no issues beating Missouri 43-6. We’re projecting the Ducks to win out and hold on to that fourth seed.

Cotton Bowl- December 31st- (2) Oklahoma vs. (3) Ohio State- Ok folks stay with us on this one. Even though the Sooners were eighth in the first rankings we think enough teams will lose they end up as the two seed. The same goes for the Buckeyes as they survived Nebraska and were moving up anyway with Michigan State’s loss.

College Football National Championship- January 10th- (1) Georgia vs. (2) Oklahoma- If this is anything like the Rose Bowl game a few years ago then another classic is on tap.

Selection Committee Games

Peach Bowl- December 30th- Notre Dame vs. Wake Forest- The Fighting Irish have a real chance at finishing 11-1 and making the playoff. Only in 2021 could the Demon Deacons play North Carolina and it not be an ACC game. Despite their loss that wasn’t a conference loss we’re keeping Wake in this game for another week.

Fiesta Bowl- January 1st- Cincinnati vs. Texas A&M- For all of the talk about how the Bearcats should have been higher they haven’t done anything recently to help their chances. On Saturday it took at fumble at the goal line against a mediocre Tulsa squad to preserve the win. The Aggies should win out and be ranked high enough to head out west.

Rose Bowl- January 1st- Michigan State vs. Utah– The Spartans’ stay in the playoff was short-lived as they lost to Purdue. As a result they now head to Pasadena. Projecting who ends up as the Pac-12 representative is much like putting the teams on a dart board. However we’re going with the team we think wins the south and that’s the Utes.

Sugar Bowl- January 1st- Alabama vs. Oklahoma State- Even though they were ranked second in the first rankings we’re projecting Alabama to fall out of the top four. Following their bad showing against LSU the Crimson Tide could lose to both Auburn and Georgia in the SEC Title game.

New Year’s Day And After Games

Citrus Bowl- January 1st- Kentucky vs. Michigan- As mentioned earlier three straight losses by the Wildcats end their hopes of a New Year’s Six bowl. The Wolverines certainly could play their way into a bigger game. However we think they’re going to lose at least one or even two more games.

Outback Bowl- January 1st- Auburn vs. Wisconsin- The Tigers lost to Texas A&M but hold steady for this week. On the other side of the ball the Badgers’ resurgence continues.

Texas Bowl- January 4th- LSU vs. Kansas State

New Year’s Eve Games

Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl- December 31st- Kent State vs. Fresno State

Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl- December 31st- Clemson vs. Washington State

TaxSlayer Gator Bowl- December 31st- Ole Miss vs. Pittsburgh- The Panthers along with North Carolina State could end up as the ACC representative for a New Year’s Six Bowl. However for now we are keeping them here.

Continuing our LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections we now head to the games between Christmas and the New Year.

Duke’s Mayo Bowl- December 30th- North Carolina vs. Tennessee- A matchup between Sam Howell and the high powered Volunteer offense led by Hendon Hooker is “must see TV.”

Music City Bowl- December 30th-  Arkansas vs. Iowa

Las Vegas Bowl- December 30th- Penn State vs. Washington

Alamo Bowl- December 29th- Arizona State vs. Baylor- Year in and year out this is one of the best games of the bowl season. This one is certainly no exception.

Cheez-It Bowl- December 29th- Iowa State vs. North Carolina State

Fenway Bowl- December 29th- Central Florida vs. Syracuse

Pinstripe Bowl- December 29th-  Miami (FL) vs. Purdue

Continuing our LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections we now head to the games between Christmas and the New Year.

Bowl Games After Christmas

Birmingham Bowl December 28th- East Carolina vs. Mississippi State- We’ve officially dropped Missouri out of bowl contention and move the Gamecocks back in following their huge win over Florida on Saturday.

First Responder Bowl- December 28th- Miami (Ohio) vs. Nevada

Guaranteed Rate Bowl- December 28th-  Minnesota vs. Texas

Holiday Bowl- December 28th- Virginia vs. UCLA- Besides Utah the biggest winner in the Pac-12 this past weekend was UCLA, who won by not playing.

Liberty Bowl- December 28th- Florida vs. West Virginia

Military Bowl- December 27th- Houston vs. Louisville

Quick Lane Bowl- December 27th- Northern Illinois vs. Wyoming- At this point we’re not projecting a Big Ten team to be available. As a result we’re placing the Cowboys, who’ve been left out of bowls all together in years past, in Detroit.

Christmas Holiday Games

Camellia Bowl- December 25th- Central Michigan vs. Georgia State

Hawaii Bowl- December 24th-  Utah State vs. Memphis

We are in the home stretch with our LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections time for a look at the pre-Christmas set of games.

Union Home Mortgage Bowl- December 22nd-  Boston College vs. South Carolina- We’ve officially dropped Missouri from bowl contention and in their place go the Gamecocks who blasted Florida 40-17.

Armed Forces Bowl- December 22nd- Army vs. SMU

Frisco Bowl- December 21st- Air Force vs. Charlotte

Idaho Potato Bowl- December 21st- Ball State vs. Boise State

Myrtle Beach Bowl- December 20th- Coastal Carolina vs. Florida Atlantic

First Weekend Matchups

Bahamas Bowl- December 17th- Marshall vs. Western Michigan

Cure Bowl- December 17th- Appalachian State vs. Liberty

Boca Raton Bowl- December 18th- South Alabama vs. Western Kentucky

Celebration Bowl- December 18th- Jackson State vs. South Carolina State

Independence Bowl- December 18th- UAB vs. BYU

Lending Tree Bowl- December 18th- Eastern Michigan vs Troy

Jimmy Kimmel Los Angeles Bowl- December 18th- San Diego State vs. Oregon State

New Mexico Bowl- December 18th- San Jose State vs. UTEP

New Orleans Bowl- December 18th- Louisiana vs. Texas San-Antonio- The race to see who wins the Sun Belt gets better and better every week. Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, and Louisiana could all win. However, we’ve been rolling with the Ragin’ Cajuns for weeks and we’re not stopping now.

Thanks for checking out our LWOS Week Ten Bowl Projections. Of course, as we always say if you don’t like where your team is slotted just wait, it’s going to change from week to week. There are several good games this weekend headlined by Baylor and Oklahoma and Ole Miss and Texas A&M. In addition another huge game is in the ACC where North Carolina State and Wake Forest meet. Things will surely change again next week and we’ll have updated projections for you next week here at Last Word On College Football.
