The fixtures for the Championship, Leauge One and League Two 2018/19 seasons have been released. Opening day clashes include West Brom hosting Bolton Wanderers and Swansea travelling to Sheffield United.
EFL Fixtures Released This Morning
Lampard to Face Reading in First Game
New Derby boss Frank Lampard will take on Reading in his first game as a manager. Lampard was announced as the club’s boss at the end of last month on a three-year contract.
His Rams side will take on Sheffield United, Norwich City and Middlesbrough over the Christmas period while finishing their season at home to West Brom.
Barton Gets Opening Fixture With AFC Wimbledon
Another first-time manager in the EFL is Fleetwood’s Joey Barton. His side will host AFC Wimbledon on the first day of their season while rounding off the opening month with visits to Oxford, Scunthorpe and Charlton and hosting Rochdale.
Barton’s side will play Doncaster Rovers, Portsmouth and Shrewsbury over the festive season and finish their season with a trip to Wycombe.
Championship
The opening day sees two of the relegated Premier League sides given away ties, with Stoke travelling to Leeds as well as Swansea‘s visit to Yorkshire to take on the Blades.
Play-off final losers Aston Villa will also travel to Yorkshire to play Hull, while Sheffield Wednesday visit League One winners Wigan Athletic.
Preston play host to QPR, League One runners-up Blackburn go to Ipswich and Bristol City host Nottingham Forest. Finally, League One play-off winners Rotherham visit Brentford while Birmingham face Norwich at St. Andrews.
League One
Relegated Sunderland kick off their campaign against Lee Bowyer’s Charlton. The former Premier League fixture is now being played in the third tier.
The other two sides relegated from the Championship are also at home. Barnsley and Burton play Oxford and Rochdale respectively.
League Two champions Accrington Stanley host Gillingham, runners-up Luton travel to Portsmouth, third-place Wycombe are at home to Blackpool and play-off winners Coventry are at home to Scunthorpe.
Bristol Rovers are set to visit Peterborough on the opening day, while Shrewsbury host Bradford. Finally, Southend and Walsall host Doncaster and Plymouth.
League Two
Two of League One’s relegated sides kick off their campaigns against each other. Paul Tisdale’s MK Dons travel to Oldham Athletic for their opening game. Meanwhile, the other two sides, Northampton and Bury, host Yeovil and Lincoln respectively.
Tranmere Rovers, back in the Football League after winning the National League play-off against Boreham Wood, face a visit to Stevenage, while National League winners Macclesfield Town have a trip to Swindon.
Elsewhere, Cheltenham host Harry Kewell’s Crawley, Morecambe travel to Crewe and Carlisle United travel almost the length of the country to play Exeter City.
Forest Green Rovers, who were not widely predicted to survive last season, have a trip to Grimsby, Port Vale play host to Cambridge and finally, Notts County are at home to Colchester United.
