Transfer Rumours: Cardiff City, QPR, Preston North End and Huddersfield Town
Cardiff Chase Oxford United Winger
Oxford United’s Northern Ireland international winger Gavin Whyte could be set to move on. According to Graham Luney of the Belfast Telegraph, Cardiff City is Whyte’s probable destination. Nottingham Forest were also believed to be interested; however, it is the Bluebirds who are now in pole position.
Whyte, a former George Best Breakthrough Award winner, joined Oxford just 12 months ago. They paid Crusaders £100,000 for his services. His fee now is expected to be considerably higher. Whyte had an impressive first season in England, scoring nine goals in 47 appearances.
Preston Weigh Up Sinclair Bid
Preston North End are reportedly pursuing Celtic winger Scott Sinclair. David Gunn of The Scotsman reports that Preston have already had a loan offer for Sinclair rejected. The Scottish champions would prefer a permanent transfer and value the player at £2.5 million.
The 30-year-old, who has scored 61 goals since joining in 2016, is may not get a starting place next season. With a loan deal rejected, it is, as yet unknown whether Preston will return with a bid close to, or matching Celtic’s valuation.
Huddersfield Transfer Rumours: Midfielder set for £15 Million Move
Prenton League clubs Bournemouth and Brighton are battling it out for Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing. According to Mel Booth of the Examiner Live, the 23-year-old is a target for both clubs. A fee believed to be £15 million is what it would take to sign the playmaker.
Billing has been at Huddersfield since the age of 16. However, after Towns relegation, the 6ft 5in midfielder may decide it is time to move on. If reports are true, it appears that Billing is heading to the South Coast.
West Ham Striker on his way to QPR?
Simon Jones of the Mail is reporting that Queens Park Rangers are closing in on Jordan Hugill. The 27-year-old striker is believed to be close to joining on a season-long loan. The former Preston star moved to West Ham for £10 million but has struggled to find form.
Hugill has been interesting several Championship clubs. However, it appears that Rangers are winning the race. A deal could be completed this weekend. Hugill spent last season on loan at Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
