Olivier Giroud Looking To Leave Chelsea
What Was Said
The Frenchman spoke to RMC Sport as part of the build-up to France’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Albania. Giroud said: “The MLS, for my family, my children who speak English, it’s interesting.
“In a year? In two years? I do not know when. But of course, after that, I will be open to a final challenge.”
Olivier Giroud Does Not Fit The New Chelsea Mould
The 32-year-old is now edging towards the twilight of his career. Despite signing a new deal, he does not fit the new regime at Chelsea.
Frank Lampard is keen to give youth a go at Stamford Bridge, seizing the opportunity to use one of the best academies in the country. As a result, it has seen 21-year-old Tammy Abraham preferred in the lone striker role, something he has taken to superbly, having scored four goals from the opening four Premier League games.
It has seen a fall down the pecking order for Giroud at Chelsea, who is wanting to receive as much game time as possible as he heads towards the end of the career. This has resulted in him exploring new possibilities for when his contract expires in 2020.
Possible Link Up With David Beckham’s Inter Miami CF?
David Beckham’s new MLS franchise Inter Miami CF is due to begin playing in 2020 and are on the hunt for a big-name player. Olivier Giroud’s Premier League experience has made him a household name and could be counted as a star.
Nonetheless, should the Frenchman opt for a move to the MLS, then he will have a number of sides chasing his signature.
