Transfer Rumours: Erling Haaland, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pedro and More
Juventus Take Pole Position for Erling Haaland
Juventus have made Erling Haaland an offer of €3 million a year after finding out about his release clause. The Norwegian striker can leave Red Bull Salzburg for just €30 million in January, which will have the tongues of clubs all over Europes wagging. Now, according to Alfredo Pedullà of Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have made contact with his agent, Mino Raiola. The 19-year-old wonder-kid has already scored 28 goals this season, including eight in the Champions League. With Mario Mandzukic likely on the way out of Turin, Maurizio Sarri will want another option upfront.
Zlatan May Not Return to Serie A
Despite reported interest from AC Milan, Napoli and Bologna, Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not return to the Serie A in January. Francesco Fontana of La Gazetta dello Sport claims that it is not a given that Ibrahimovic will make a return to Italy, and his opens are still open. Milan, though, are still a club close to his heart, and will likely be his first choice should he choose to return.
Arsenal Eye Smalling to Aid Defensive Woes
Arsenal’s defence has long been their Achilles Heel, and this season is no different, having already conceded 23 goals. Now, as Steve Bates of the Mirror writes, the Gunners have their eye on Chris Smalling to ease their woes. The English defender lost his place at Manchester United to Harry Maguire over the summer. Now, he is impressing on loan at Roma in Italy, and Arsenal were scouting him in a 0-0 draw against league leaders Inter Milan. The 29-year-old is unlikely to play for United again, and could be Arsenal’s for £18 million. However, Everton and Leicester City are also keeping tabs on him.
Villa Targeting Wantaway Pedro
Mike McGrath of the Telegraph writes that Aston Villa are willing to offer Pedro a way out of Stamford Bridge. The 32-year-old winger has made just 4 appearances in the Premier League this season, and wants first-team minutes. He has only started one game in the last two months. Dean Smith is looking to improve his side’s offensive options, and with Pedro’s contract up at the end of the season, he could get a cut-price deal for the Spaniard.
Alonso On Way Out of Chelsea?
Despite riding high in the league this season, Antonio Conte wants new options at Inter Milan. One such player who could join is Marcos Alonso according to Calciomercato sources, who misses Italy and has found chances limited this season. He has only appeared seven times this season, behind Emerson Palmieri in the pecking order. It was Conte that brought the left-back to England three years ago and now he could sign him again for Inter. Chelsea would be open to selling him as well, possibly using the funds to sign Ben Chilwell.
