The Deal

Doncaster announced via their website they had signed the striker. Cole arrives on a permanent deal from Wigan. He has signed an initial contract until the end of the season.

Cole has struggled to make an impact at Wigan spending the first half of the season at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell. However, he was recalled by Wigan in January on the basis he would leave the club again.

Cole is no stranger to League One having played for Fleetwood Town and Bradford City at this level. He has scored goals wherever he has played. He will join a Doncaster side looking to secure a top-six finish at the end of the season.

Rovers are tenth in League One just four points off the play-off places. But they have as many as three games in hand on some of their promotion rivals.

Doncaster face two league games in five days and certainly, Cole will part some part in both games. He could make his debut in tomorrow night’s game against Southend United

Cole Ready to Go

Speaking to the Doncaster website about his move, Cole said: “I’m happy to get the deal done and get going, it’s been a frustrating couple of weeks sorting out leaving Wigan but I’m ready to go now.”

“It’s a relief to get it done, it can be difficult in January but thankfully we have come to an agreement and I’m pleased to be here.”

“I spoke to the manager last week and had a good chat with him, the way the group is and the position they are in the table made it an appealing move.”

“As a striker you always want to come in and do well, even if there is that added pressure then that’s something you have to take in your stride.”

“I’ve played at this level before so hopefully I can use that experience to help the boys that are already here.”

“The big thing about coming here was the fact the team isn’t far away from those play-off places with half of the season to go.”
