Kevin-Prince Boateng Leaves Italy
Kevin-Prince Boateng has had a turbulent few years in terms of transfer moves. He mutually agreed to end his contract with Las Palmas before signing for Frankfurt on a free transfer. He later left the German club to sign for Sassuolo, before later being loaned out to Barcelona.
Following the end of his loan spell, he joined Fiorentina in Serie A during an active summer transfer window in 2019. He was part of an influx of attacking players, which included Bobby Duncan, who is hoping to leave, and Franck Ribery. The German-born Ghana international has only made eight appearances for the Serie A club, scoring one goal. It has only been a short spell in Italy for Boateng, though a transfer seems best for all parties.
Impact on Besiktas
At Besiktas, Boateng will link up with forwards such as Jeremain Lens and former Tottenham Hotspur winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou. At present, Besiktas sit seventh in the league and are five points adrift of the top four. They are also seven points behind Fenerbahce, who currently occupy the Champions League qualifier spot.
Besiktas will be hoping that Boateng can fire them towards European football, in a campaign where they have only managed nine wins from 19 games. The move is likely to be mutually beneficial, as at the age of 32, Boateng is not likely to attract interest from other major European clubs. He will be hoping that he can find form in Turkey, in order to have a satisfactory end to his career.
