Stevenage Sign Ben Folami and Canice Carroll
The Deals
Stevenage announced via their website that they had signed the duo. Folami arrives on loan from Ipswich for the remainder of the season, while Carroll arrives for an undisclosed fee from Brentford on a deal until the end of the season.
Folami is a 20-year-old striker from the Ipswich academy. He is an Australian youngster who has represented his country at youth levels. Game time has been limited at Ipswich, so he arrives aiming to fire Stevenage to safety.
Carroll is a versatile player that can play in both defence and midfield. He began his career at Oxford United before joining Brentford. However, he struggled to make an impact at both clubs. Carroll spent the first half of the season on loan at Carlisle United.
He was an excellent servant to Carlisle and a big loss to them. The versatile player has also represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels.
Folami and Carroll continue Stevenage’s busy transfer window as Graham Westley plots survival in League Two. They are severely cut adrift at the bottom of the division and quickly need to find wins and goals.
Carroll is an experienced League Two player so he could be a key player for Stevenage. Folami arrives to continue his football education, develop as a player and score the goals. Stevenage has plenty of attacking options and Folami joins a fiercely competitive department.
Carroll will provide protection in front of the back four and certainly can move into defence if required.
Both have not signed in time for tomorrow’s game against Leyton Orient meaning they will have to wait for their debuts. Those could arrive against Exeter City in eight days’ time.
