Manchester City forward Leroy Sané will sign a five year deal with Bayern Munich, according to Christian Falk at Sports Bild.
Die Bayern and the 24-year-old reportedly struck a deal recently. However, a transfer fee still needs to be agreed between City and the Bundesliga club for the winger.
Leroy Sané Agrees to Bayern Munich Deal
Fee to be Agreed
With an agreement between player and club finalised, Bayern will try to secure a lower fee for Sané, according to German news outlet Bild.
The German champions wanted to pay £88 million for the forward last summer. But now, they could pay just £35 million for the former Schalke player.
The impact on club finances due to the coronavirus pandemic means City could sell the German for a knockdown price. However, the club would still make a profit on the £11 million they paid for the German international in 2016.
The 24-year-old’s current contract with City expires next summer. It’s unlikely they will receive a substantial fee.
Bayern’s Pursuit of Sané
Bayern will be pleased to finally secure the signing of Sané after maintaining long-term interest.
The Bundesliga club have pursued the City winger since last summer. But, Bayern withdrew any interest after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Sané sustained the injury during the Community Shield victory over Liverpool in August.
Sane’s Injury Struggles
Despite returning to full-time training at City before the suspension of the Premier League in March, Sané endured a difficult recovery from the ACL injury sustained in August. He played just one reserve game this season.
The 24-year-old made excellent progress before his injury. He made 134 appearances for City in all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 45 assists.
In his four years with City, Sane also lifted two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one EFL Cup and two Community Shields.
