London giants Arsenal and Chelsea are set to battle it out for highly-rated Turkish U-21 international Orkun Kokcu, according to numerous reports.
Arsenal & Chelsea Set to Enter Transfer Battle for Turkish Star Orkun Kokcu
Kokcu is Highly Rated
A product of both the FC Groningen and Feyenoord youth set-ups, Kokcu has become a regular starter in the latter’s side following his breakthrough season in the Eredivisie.
Prior to the now void 2019/20 Eredivisie season, Kokcu had made 22 appearances for the Rotterdam side, scoring two goals and grabbing four assists along the way.
His performances earned him many suitors as Kokcu firmly established himself as one of Feyenoord’s best youth talents players from this highly regarded Dutch academy, which helped to produce the likes of Robin Van Persie and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Arsenal Expressed Interest
Having been monitored by Arsenal club officials for some time now, it has been said that the North London have already made contact with Kokcu’s representatives following his rise to stardom in Holland.
Feyenoord boss Dick Advocaat himself revealed that Arsenal were one of the interested parties in March 2020.
In what would be an interesting addition to Arteta’s somewhat ‘lacklustre’ midfield, Kokcu has the potential to bring a similar style to that of Mesut Ozil, a player who no doubt could be making a move away from the Emirates this summer.
Hailed as ”one of Holland’s best midfielders” by Dutch legend Jaap Stam, Kokcu has the ability to dictate the midfield, bringing the ball forward in confident fashion.
Along with his eye for a pass and tremendous accuracy from long-range (showcased most evidently in an Eredivisie game vs Utrecht), Kokcu’s £23 million price-tag is well and truly justified, however, things won’t be that easy for the Gunners.
Chelsea Have Entered the Race for Kokcu’s Signature
Chelsea are set to match their rivals by entering the running for Kokcu’s much sought after signature.
With Frank Lampard aiming to bolster his Chelsea-sides midfield in this summers transfer market, the signing of Kokcu is no doubt a good place to start.
The £23 million man also possesses interest from Real Betis in Spain, and Roma in Italy, however, it is in the Premier League where he feels his game will most likely progress.
At just 19-years-old, Orkun Kokcu has the footballing world at his fingertips. His move to the Premier League will no doubt be welcomed by either of these London giants, and this transfer saga may well and truly hot-up this summer.
