Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden broke lockdown rules this week. The 20-year-old played football with fans at a beach.
The Mail published a video of Foden taking part in a spontaneous kick about with members of the public at Formby Beach, Merseyside. The player was visiting family nearby.
The player’s actions contradict both government and Premier League rules over social distancing.

City Will Remind Foden of Responsibilities
Foden played football in close proximity to others on the beach last weekend. During the video, he dribbles with the ball whilst fans attempt to tackle the player.
The 20-year-old then posed for a picture with the fans. As a result, he broke social distancing rules of staying two metres apart from others.
Premier League players must maintain social distance at all times. Players are only permitted to be in close proximity to others when taking part in contact training sessions at their own club’s training ground.
Manchester City will speak to the 20-year-old about his actions. The club will remind him of his responsibilities to maintain social distancing ahead of the Premier League restart in two weeks time on June 17.
Foden has made 26 appearances in all competitions for the current Premier League champions. The midfielder made seven assists and scored three goals before the season was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Foden Becomes Second City Player to Flout Rules
In May, Foden’s City team-mate Kyle Walker was not punished by the club for breaking lockdown rules twice.
The England international reportedly held a party at his residence with two sex workers. He then travelled to Sheffield to visit his parents and sister weeks later.
However, City decided not to take action against the defender for his actions during the lockdown.
