Former Leeds United chairman Massimo Cellino has been linked with making a potential move to buy Reading or Birmingham City.
Report: Former Leeds United Chairman Massimo Cellino Linked With Reading and Birmingham City
Championship Duo Eyed Up By Former Leeds Top Dog
Since leaving Elland Road, Cellino is currently the owner of Serie A side Brescia.
The Italian side gained promotion to the top-flight last year but Cellino is reportedly keen to sell up.
Cellino’s turbulent time in Yorkshire has made him a name known to many after first arriving in January 2014.
His constant revolving door of managers made it difficult for the Whites to gain any kind of success, he eventually departed in May 2017.
During his time at Leeds he sacked six managers, including former promotion-winning Reading boss Brian McDermott.
But reports in Italy by Tuttomercato claim Cellino is keen on a return to England.
They say that Cellino is ‘fed up’ in Italy and contemplating a return to the English divisions.
The report mentions Charlton Athletic, Birmingham City and Reading – although the latter duo seem to have more substantial weight behind them.
Reading are currently owned by Chinese businessman and investor Dai Yongge.
He took over at the Madejski Stadium in May 2017 and also owns Chinese side Beijing Renhe.
Charlton are on the look out for new owners as they continue to endure problems behind closed doors – Birmingham City are the third club mentioned.
The Royals have shown improvement this season under Mark Bowen and are just eight points adrift of the play-offs with nine matches to go.
