Bolton Wanderers have signed midfielder Tom White on loan from Blackburn Rovers. White arrives as Bolton’s fifth summer signing, as new manager Ian Evatt looks to build a side that can make a swift return to League One.
White reunites with Wanderers manager Evatt after they worked together at Barrow. The midfielder was part of Barrow’s promotion-winning team last season.
Bolton Wanderers Sign Midfielder Tom White
White Arrives on Loan From Blackburn Rovers
Bolton announced they had signed the midfielder via their website. The 23-year-old arrives on a season-long loan from Bolton’s Lancashire rivals Blackburn.
The midfielder is a product of the Gateshead academy and joined Blackburn in 2019. He then linked up with Bolton manager Ian Evatt at Barrow, playing an integral in Evatt’s title-winning team.
He will now hope to achieve the same with Bolton as he prepares for his football league debut. White has also represented the England C side and his arrival continues Ian Evatt’s squad revamp as he builds a team capable of challenging for promotion.
Speaking to the Bolton website about his move, White said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have joined the club.”
“It’s been in the offing for a while but there was only one place I wanted to come this summer and I’m buzzing it’s finally done.”
“I’ve got a really good relationship with the gaffer. His record last year speaks for itself and it’s an honour that he’s asked me to come here with him because I know how good of a manager he is.”
Ian Evatt Hails ‘Great Acquisition’ White
Manager Ian Evatt added: “While Tom might not be a name known to our fans, I know him very well as I had him last year at Barrow. He is the complete midfield player who can run, pass, dribble and break up play.”
“He is a great acquisition to our squad.”
