Charlton Athletic kicked off their transfer activity for the summer earlier this week. The Addicks brought in Alex Gilbey from MK Dons and Conor Washington from Hearts. However, there is still some rebuilding to be done ahead of their return to League One after the club confirmed that Tomer Hemed, Lewis Page and Naby Sarr have all left The Valley following the expiration of their contracts.
Charlton Athletic Confirm Three Departures
Not Sticking Around
Two of these players, in particular, will feel that they can cut their teeth at Championship level. Israel international Hemed, despite his goalscoring struggles for Charlton, regularly found the net in the second tier for both Brighton & Hove Albion and Queens Park Rangers. Meanwhile, defender Sarr was a consistent performer in his sole Championship season with the club.
Defender Page played just 27 times in all competitions in his three campaigns at Charlton and did not feature at all last season.
Speaking to the club website, director of football Steve Gallen said: “I would like to thank Naby, Lewis and Tomer for everything they have given to the club.
“Naby has been here a long time and ended up becoming very popular both with the fans and with everyone at the club. He was a big part of our promotion campaign and I’m sure many fans won’t forget his late goal against QPR anytime soon.
“Lewis was very unlucky with injuries during his time here. We all know how good a player he is and I hope he can get a regular run of games going forward.
“Tomer came in last summer and worked hard during his time at the club. All three of them were popular at the training ground and I’d like to wish them the best in the future.”
