AC Milan have submitted a new bid for Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to Fabrizio Romano.
However, the respected journalist added that city rivals Inter had already agreed on personal terms with the 20-year-old but are yet to reach an agreement with Le Rondinelle.
REPORT: AC Milan and Inter Battle for Brescia Midfielder Sandro Tonali
AC Milan Are the Frontrunners
AC Milan have been tracking Sandro Tonali for some time. It had previously been suggested that the 20-year-old defensive midfielder was keen to join the Rossoneri.
According to Romano, the new bid could go someway in swaying Brescia to accepting the offer. It is believed to be in the region of €35 million, something the recently relegated side would willingly accept.
Inter to Battle With Rivals
It won’t be a straight forward transfer for AC Milan, however. City rivals Inter had already agreed on personal terms with the Brescia midfielder, but the club are yet to accept an offer from Antonio Conte’s side.
This is due to Inter needing to sell some players before bringing in any new faces as a financial result of the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the Nerazzurri are unable to submit a bid until a sale or two is made.
Sandro Tonali at Brescia
The 20-year-old midfielder made 36 appearances in all competitions last season for Brescia. He found the net once and laid on seven assists as Le Rondinelle ended the season in 19th, suffering relegation as a result.
Tonali has scored six goals from 89 appearances during his time in the north of the country, winning the Serie B title the season before last.
Given his good form last season, the youngster has been called up by Italy manager Roberto Mancini for the upcoming Nations League games. He has made three appearances for Gli Azzurri so far.
