After months of speculation over a potential move, Lautaro Martinez is set for an Inter Milan stay. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Inter board will have a meeting with Martinez’s agents after the transfer window to extend his contract. The Italian giants reportedly consider him out of market.
Inter boss Antonio Conte will be pleased with the reported extension as he looks to guide his side to consecutive title races with this one hopefully being a winning one. Martinez played a crucial role last season, linking up with Romelu Lukaku to create one of the deadliest duos in Europe.
By keeping that partnership together, Inter Milan could simultaneously solve their silverware, or lack of it, problem.
Lautaro Martinez to Have Extension Talks With Inter Milan
Securing the Talisman for Both the Present and Future
At 23 years old, Martinez still has a whole career to look forward too. Last season’s impressive tally of 21 goals will only be bettered with each passing year in Italy. Under a top manager such as Antonio Conte, too, his development should come at the quickest of pace.
Securing the Argentine forward’s future at the club could well turn out to be Inter’s best business of the season as they tie down their talisman for both the present and future.
Inter Milan the Right Club for Martinez
Despite the earlier links with a move to Barcelona, Martinez looks likely to stay put in Milan should contract talks go well. He has the chance to make the perfect decision for his career, and potentially the most important. Joining the circus at Barcelona would have done significant damage to his career in a similar way to how Antoine Griezmann’s was affected.
Now, with an extension reportedly set to be on the table, Martinez must put pen to paper for the sake of the progress of his career.
