New Boss Hails Taylor’s Experience
Tying Taylor down to an extension has been the first piece of business from new manager Michael Jolley. The former Grimsby boss replaced David Dunn on December 23. The Bluebirds then won 2-0 at Port Vale in Rob Kelly’s last temporary game in charge and drew 1-1 with Tranmere Rovers in Jolley’s first outing.
Jolley explained that he felt Taylor’s experience would be key to helping Barrow survive in League Two.
He said: “I just feel his experience is going to be important in the second half of the season.
“He’s a really good professional and brings a lot of calmness and composure to the pitch but also to the dressing room, in terms of where he’s been and what he’s done.
“In the second of the season there are going to be ups and downs so having someone like Chris Taylor will be crucial for us so we’re pleased to have agreed a new deal with him.”
Barrow have lost only once in four games since Dunn’s departure in mid-December. They still sit 20th in League Two but now have mid-table firmly in their sights after a good run of form.
Their next match on January 9 sees them travel to bottom side Southend United, who are in good form themselves having lost only one of their last five.
