Archer a Player Warnock Has Always ‘Liked’
Archer will be best known to EFL fans for his time at Millwall, where he made over 150 appearances in a four-year spell. Since then, he has had three other clubs but failed to settle anywhere, making just 12 appearances in total.
However, since his days with the Lions, Boro boss Neil Warnock has liked what he has seen, and he was delighted to be able to bring Archer to the Riverside Stadium.
He said: “I’ve looked at Jordan the last few years. Ever since he was at Millwall, he’s a player I’ve liked.
“Dejan made it clear to me that he wants to go and play to try and get in the Austria team for the Euros and reluctantly I agreed to that.
“I thought why not give Jordan the opportunity to show us what he can do over the next few months and I’m delighted to have him on board.”
Stojanovic Departs
As Warnock alluded to, Archer comes in to replace Dejan Stojanovic, who leaves less than a year after joining the club.
The Austria international has joined German second division side St Pauli on a deal until the end of the season in a bid to try and push into the Austria squad for this year’s European Championships.
Despite being signed for a reported fee of £1 million, Warnock was not convinced by Stojanovic and he was dropped to the bench in place of loan signing Marcus Betinelli in the summer.
